Monumental Inscriptions from St. John's Wood Chapel

St. John's Wood Chapel was the burial ground for Marylebone in London and hundreds of thousands of people were buried there. This is a transcription of some of the relatively few who had memorials put up including the early nineteenth century, including the "Prophetess," Joanna Southcott. Taken from A Topographical & Historical Account of the Parish of St. Mary-Le-Bone by Thomas Smith (1833). The inscriptions are mainly early 19th century. A modern name index has been added. Searchable.
